Kyiv summons ambassador in Moldova in wake of pro-Russian Dodon leading in 1st tour of elections

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has summoned for consultations the country`s Ambassador to Moldova, Ivan Hnatyshyn, according to the Ukrainian president`s spox Svyatoslav Tsegolko.

”Important information. Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova has been summoned to Kyiv for consultations,” Tsegolko tweeted Monday.

He did not specify the reason for the move and what issues would be discussed.

As UNIAN reported earlier, leader of the Party of Socialists, Igor Dodon, who has repeatedly stressed his pro-Russian stance, received 48.7% of votes in the first round of presidential elections in Moldova, while his main rival Maia Sandu, the candidate of the pro-European forces, gained 37.96% of the votes.
