Kyiv bakery aims at cake markets in U.S., Canada

Kyiv`s largest bread and bakery food producer, Kyivkhlib, plans to launch cake shipments to the United States and Canada in 2016, according to the Stock Market Infrastructure Development Agency of Ukraine (SMIDA).
Last year Kyivkhlib exported its dry breads, bagels and pastry foods to Germany, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Bulgaria, and the Netherlands, SMIDA said.
Exports totaled 25,700 tonnes out of over 180,000 tonnes sold last year.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Kyivkhlib in 2015 saw a 47% increase in net loss from 2014, to UAH 30.5 million.
Memo. Kyivkhlib was created on the basis of Kyiv-based state-owned bakery Kyivkhlib in 1996. It has five production facilities in Kyiv and five bakeries in Kyiv region, namely in the towns of Brovary, Skvyra, Bila Tserkva, Fastiv and the village of Makariv.
The company`s output is up to 500 tonnes of bakery foods and 20 tonnes of pastry and cakes per day. It offers about 500 types of products.
