Kremlin says it knows nothing about Poroshenko-Putin deal on Savchenko

The Kremlin does not confirm a statement by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin has allegedly promised to release or exchange Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko after the trial ends in Russia, according to Russian news agency TASS.

”I do not know about such agreements,” TASS quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.

Peskov referred to his statement made on Tuesday when he said that Russia would abide by its national legislation in any case.

”In all other respects only the president can make such a decision. I cannot say for now what decision will follow there,” he said then.

As UaPosition reported earlier, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said in a video address on Tuesday that he had offered his Russian counterpart Putin to exchange Savchenko for two Russian troops, who were earlier detained in Ukraine.
