Iran interested in oil shipments via Odesa-Brody pipeline

Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Nasalyk says Iran is interested in pumping crude oil through Ukraine`s Odesa-Brody oil pipeline, linking the Ukrainian port city of Odesa at the Black Sea and the town of Brody on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
”We have had a meeting with the Ambassador of Iran, the Iranian side expressed great interest in transporting Iranian oil through the Yuzhny [terminal] of the Odesa-Brody [pipeline] as it is the best logistic way,” the minister said at a government meeting.
At the negotiations, the parties agreed to conclude specific agreements within two months and visit all potential facilities that could be used for the project, Nasalyk added.
First Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv, who was also present at the meeting, noted that Ukraine and Iran had outlined their cooperation prospects in a memorandum of understanding, which was signed in March this year during a visit of Ukrainian government`s delegates to Iran. According to Kubiv, the two countries have a wide range of mutual interests, including agriculture, engineering, mining, hydropower development, metallurgy, aviation, and railway car building.
As reported earlier, this year Ukraine plans to resume cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and other areas after an 11-year break. Ukraine`s trade mission will be sent to Iran in May-June this year to meet with that country`s business representatives.
