Industrial output in Ukraine slows down to 2%

The growth of Ukraine`s industrial output in September year-over-year slowed down from 3.4% a month earlier to 2%, as reported on the website of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

Compared with the previous month, August 2016, September saw growth of industrial output by 4.4% after a 0.8% fall in August against July.

Since the beginning of the year, in January-September, the industrial output has grown by 2% y-o-y.

According to the State Statistics Service, the largest increase in September compared to September 2015 was recorded in the production of computers, electronic and optical products – almost fourfold; food industry – by 8,1%; manufacture of wood products, paper and printing activities – by 6%.

The highest growth compared to August 2016 was recorded in the production of computers, electronic and optical products – threefold; food industry – by 26.8%,; manufacture of electrical equipment – by 17.5%.

The greatest decline in production in September 2016 compared with September 2015 was recorded in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers – by 12.1%; mining of metal ores – by 9.9%; and mining of coal and lignite – by 5.3%.

The greatest decline in production compared to August 2016 was recorded in mining of metal ores – by 4.6%, chemical industry – by 4.3%, supply of electricity, gas and steam – 4.3%.

The State Statistics Service said that the data exclude the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as part of the zone of the Anti-Terrorist Operation.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine`s industrial output in August 2016 grew by 3.4% year-over-year (y-o-y), after a 0.2% decrease recorded a month before, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

In January-August, the industrial output has grown by 2% y-o-y.

In 2015 compared to 2014, the decline in industrial output accelerated from 10.7% to 13.4%.

According to the expert consensus forecast compiled by UNIAN, the growth of industrial output in Ukraine in 2016 could reach 3%.
