IMF`s decision on new loan for Ukraine in August: Finance ministry

Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danylyuk has said the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will decide on the disbursement of a new loan tranche for Ukraine late in August.

He noted that Ukraine had not yet received the scheduled third tranche as the Board had not considered the issue yet.

”The Board will officially meet during the fourth week of August. We expect there will be a meeting where the Ukraine issue will be discussed and we hope for a positive decision on the third tranche,” he told TV Channel 5 on Thursday.

”We expected it in the end of July, but the IMF`s schedule did not match. Presently, most of the directors are on official holiday from work for three weeks,” he stated.

Earlier, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriya Gontareva said she hoped for the new tranche from the IMF late in August, expecting two disbursements by the end of the year to the tune of US$2.7 billion.

The IMF approved the Extended Fund Facility program for Ukraine, worth $17.5 billion, in March 2015 for a four-year period. Last year, Ukraine received two tranches of $5 billion and 1.7 billion, respectively.
