IMF representative Lipton impressed by what he saw in Kyiv

An IMF mission working in Ukraine will conclude its work by the end of this week.
IMF First Deputy Managing Director David Lipton said this in a statement on his visit to Ukraine, which was released on the IMF website on Sunday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“I visited Kyiv on December 13, for meetings with the president, prime minister and their new economic team. I was impressed by their vision for an economic transformation of Ukraine, and by their commitment to decisive, front-loaded implementation of their reform agenda,” the IMF’s press office quoted Lipton as saying.
According to the report, “a Fund team conducting technical discussions is expected to conclude its work by the end of the coming week.” A mission to conduct policy discussions in the context of the Fund-supported program is expected to return to Kyiv early next year.
During his visit to Kyiv, Lipton met with President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriya Gontareva, Minister of Finance Natalie Jaresko, Minister of Economy Aivaras Abromavicius and their senior colleagues.
