IMF outlines key tasks for Ukraine

Reforms that are of critical importance to Ukraine include anti-corruption and judicial measures, tax administration reforms, and reforms of state-owned enterprises to improve corporate governance and reduce fiscal risks, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The IMF emphasizes greater reform efforts will have to be made by Ukraine to increase productivity, stimulate production, improve the situation on the labor market and the business environment to draw investment to the country, the IMF said in its Report on Regional Economic Issues covering Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe.
The country`s policy should therefore focus on institutional reforms that reduce inefficiencies and increase returns on private investment and savings, the report said.
At the same time, Ukraine is expected to record positive growth supported by diminishing macroeconomic imbalances and a less challenging geopolitical situation, the IMF forecasts.
The IMF maintained unchanged its growth forecast for the Ukrainian economy in 2016 at 1.5% and inflation at 15.1%.
As was reported earlier, IMF experts are arriving in Ukraine on May 10 to discuss the economic situation.
