Gryzlov warns of possible escalation in Donbas if OSCE police mission deployed

Deployment of an international police mission in Donbas is contrary to Minsk agreements, as such calls will only provoke escalation; all parties should be as careful as possible at promotion initiatives, that`s according to Russia`s Envoy to the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas conflict settlement Boris Gryzlov, RIA news agency reports
”Unfortunately, in the case of an offer for a so-called ”international police mission” none of the basic principles of the Ukrainian settlement are observed. A set of measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements contains no mention of the creation of such a structure,” Gryzlov has told the reporters.
”In addition, we know the position of the second side of Ukraine`s internal conflict, which sees in such actions an attempt to foreign occupation of their territory. This means that these calls will not only fail to help in the search for a peaceful solution, but on the contrary, they will only provoke escalation. I am convinced, that neither Ukraine, nor the EU, nor Russia are interested in this,” he said.
Gryzlov said that all parties should be careful in promoting any initiatives in the issues of security.
”We should follow the principle of ”do no harm,” in order not to destroy what has been achieved,” he said.
As UaPosition reported earlier, Ukraine is in talks on deploying in Donbas OSCE`s armed police mission to ensure security during local elections in the conflict area.
