Government submits sanctions against Russia for approval by NSDC

The Cabinet of Ministers has proposed that the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) approve sanctions against Russian individuals and companies who supported military aggression against Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea, the government’s press service has reported.
“The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at its meeting on Thursday, September 11, approved a proposal to the National Security and Defense Council regarding the use of personal sanctions due to Russian aggression against Ukraine in the military, economic, energy and information dimensions, the illegal occupation of part of Ukrainian territory, the facilitation of terrorist activities in Ukraine, and the violation of the rights and freedoms of Ukrainian citizens, the interests of society and the state,” reads the report.
The proposals envisage a number of restrictions for individuals and entities that supported military aggression, terrorism and occupation of Crimea.
In particular, the government advises to ban some Russians and citizens of other countries from entering Ukraine, block the assets of legal entities, and ban the removal of capital from Ukraine by legal entities-residents of Russia of state form of ownership and legal entities part of the share capital of which is in Russian ownership.
The National Security and Defense Council should consider government proposals and make a final decision, which is enacted by a decree of the Ukrainian president.
The law of Ukraine on sanctions came into force on September 12.
