Government dismisses deputy chief of State Labor Service

The Ukrainian government has dismissed from office First Deputy Chief of the State Labor Service of Ukraine Mykhailo Bardonov, who was earlier detained for taking a bribe, as stated in the government`s resolution dated July 18 and published in the Ukrainian government`s Uriadovy Kurier newspaper.
Earlier, on July 16, the Security Service of Ukraine announced Bardonov`s arrest for accepting a bribe of UAH100,000, a report stated. In addition, US$153,000, six expensive watches and other valuables were seized during a search of his apartment.
According to a post on the State Labor Service`s official website, Bardonov had held the office of deputy chief since January 2016. Prior to that, from 2014 to 2016, he served as the deputy head of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine for Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
UNIAN memo. The State Labor Service of Ukraine was created following the Ukrainian government`s resolution dated September 10, 2014, by merging the State Service of Mining Supervision and Industrial Safety and the State Labor Inspectorate. Functions concerning state policy in the field of occupational health, dosimetry control of workplaces and doses to workers have been delegated to the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine.
The current head of the service, Roman Chernega, was appointed on January 23, 2015.
