Germany not to provide military assistance to Ukraine

The German government is not considering providing military assistance to Ukraine to fight separatists in the east of the country.
A German Federal Foreign Office spokesperson said this in Berlin on Monday, while commenting on a respective request from Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.
“The fact that the Ukrainian leadership, given the really difficult military situation in the east of Ukraine, expressed such a wish can be understood…. But the German government is not considering the issue of providing military supplies to Ukraine,” the spokesperson said.
As reported, Klimkin, in an interview with the Deutschlandfunk radio station on Sunday, August 17, asked the EU and NATO to provide military aid to Ukraine to fight pro-Russian militants in Donbas.
