Gerashchenko reveals details of Ukrainian Colonel`s captivity

Colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Ivan Beziazykov, who was released on Tuesday after two years spent in militant captivity, had been held in the building of the Donetsk TV station, Ukraine`s representative in the humanitarian subgroup at the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas settlement, first Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko told journalists, according to an
”Ivan Beziazykov was imprisoned by militants for almost two years, 23 months. We could not find his whereabouts for a long time,” Gerashchenko said, adding that the Ukrainian side had repeatedly filed requests for information about his whereabouts in the Minsk Group, but the militants did not provide such information and neither did they confirm his captivity.
According to Gerashchenko, the information on Beziazykov`s location came in late December, 2015.
”Ivan was not in jail, neither was he in the building of the former SBU Security Service of Ukraine in the city of Donetsk, where our guys are [usually] held. He was held in the building of the Donetsk TV station,” she said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on July 5, Ivan Beziazykov, Colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, wasreleased after two years spent in militant captivity.
As of today, 111 citizens of Ukraine are held hostage by the militants in Donbas.
