General Electric signs cooperation agreement with major Ukranian enterprises

American diversified conglomerate General Electric (GE) signed today, July 21, a Memorandum of Cooperation with public joint-stock company Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) and Ukrainian aircraft manufacturing and services company Antonov, Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan posted on Facebook.
”The memorandum with Ukrzaliznytsia provides for enhanced cooperation in the fields of development and modernization of the diesel locomotives fleet, using the American company`s advanced technologies. With regard to the state enterprise Antonov, the foundation has been laid today for the start of cooperation between the strategically important state-owned enterprise and GE. The memorandum enables the supplies of engines, aircraft systems and services for certain Antonov-produced aircraft,” the minister wrote.
Omelyan also said Ukrzaliznytsia is in talks with Kryukov Railway Car Building Works and other potential producers in Ukraine.
”We want to see free competition in the market, low prices and high-quality products for Ukrzaliznytsia`s customers,” the minister added.
As UNIAN noted earlier, the government`s press service earlier reported that GE was planning to provide its locomotives to Ukraine for test operations. On July 11, Ukrzaliznytsia signed a memorandum with the world`s largest manufacturer of rail equipment, Canadian firm Bombardier, to establish a joint venture in Ukraine to build locomotives and other equipment.

General Electric, a U.S. diversified corporation, is a manufacturer of many types of equipment, including locomotives, power plants (including nuclear reactors), gas turbines, and aircraft engines, as well as medical equipment, photo equipment, household appliances and lighting equipment, along with plastic and sealants.
