Gazprom confirms payment from Ukraine

Gazprom confirms receiving a payment of USD 1.45 billion from Naftogaz of Ukraine.
Official representative of the Russian monopolist Sergey Kupriyanov told reporters, TASS informs.
“Gazprom received from banks confirmation of the transfer of funds from NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine to the amount of USD 1.45 billion as a partial repayment of debt for earlier supplied gas until March 31, 2015. Participants in negotiations signed the following documents during negotiations: a tripartite Protocol between the government Ukraine, Russia and the European Commission; additional agreement to a contract between NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and JSC Gazprom. A price was adjusted for gas for Ukraine at USD 378 per thousand cu m in Q4, 2014, USD 365 per thousand cu m in Q1, 2015.
In addition, in compliance with agreements, Ukraine should pay USD 3.1 billion of debt for earlier supplied gas by two tranches at USD 1.45 billion and USD 1.65 billion.
It is planned that Ukraine will spend USD 1.5 billion for the purchase of about 4 billion cu m of Russian gas in order to provide for its internal needs and reliable transit to Europe in winter period.
