Russia should immediately withdraw its armed forces from Ukraine, otherwise, the costs will be further intensified.
The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries said this after a meeting in New York, according to Ukrinform.
“Russia must immediately meet its own commitments of the Minsk agreement, including by withdrawing all of its forces, weapons and equipment from Ukraine; securing and respecting the international border between the two countries with OSCE monitoring; and ensuring that all hostages are released,” reads a statement issued by Canada, France Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
In case of adverse action, however, G7 said it remained ready “to further intensify the costs on Russia for non-compliance.”
As reported, G7 countries supported the Minsk agreements of August 5 and 19 as an important step towards a sustainable, mutually agreed ceasefire, control of the Russian-Ukrainian border and a return to peace and stability in eastern Ukraine.
G7 also praised Ukraine’s compliance with the Minsk agreements and reaffirmed its commitment to assist the state in economic recovery.
