Fiscal Service tasked with solving VAT refunds issue

The Ukrainian government has instructed the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine (SFS) to resolve all issues related to value added tax (VAT) refunds within one month.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman issued the order to SFS Head Roman Nasirov during a meeting in which the authorities met with representatives of the business community, Business Ombudsman Algirdas Semeta told reporters.
”The prime minister has set a month-term to resolve the issues related to VAT refunds. The prime minister expects that a report highlighting the progress in solving this matter should be provided by August 24, and that the issue on customs overpayments will also be tackled,” Semeta said.
Earlier, Groysman stated that the State Fiscal Service had received the largest number of complaints from businesses, concerning the efficiency of the activities of the public authorities. The prime minister also urged the business community to report on unfair practices carried out by the authorities, but also proposed his own solutions to address the current shortcomings.
Memo. The State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, which incorporates the tax and customs services, as well as tax police, was formed on the basis of the Income and Tax Ministry, which was disbanded in March 2014 after a new government, led by Arseniy Yatsenyuk, was elected.
