First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kubiv says that Ukraine hopes to complete talks with its key lenders, the International Monetary Fund, on the second review of the Extended Fund Facility program and receive the third tranche worth about $1.7 billion of an IMF loan by the end of the second quarter of 2016.
A preliminary plan of work with the IMF should be finalized and approved until May 1, 2016, as instructed by newly appointed Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, Kubiv said.
”There was a meeting of an ad hoc group last night where the Finance and Economy Ministries were present. They discussed the structure of communication [with the IMF]. There is a certain time frame for the fulfillment of instructions, including the preparation of bills for adoption by the Verkhovna Rada,” Kubiv said.
A skype conference with the IMF is planned to be held, he said. ”And we`ll receive additional principals for the formation of the positions of the Finance and Economy Ministries and other government agencies,” he said.
”We will then formalize everything and inform [the public]. It will take some time, but we`d like to make it soon. This should be done by May 1, the premier has set a clear task,” he added.
The Ukrainian authorities will also take into account the country`s other lenders, namely the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World Bank, he said.
