Ukrainian Member of Parliament, former journalist Ihor Lutsenko says that former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, who now lives in Russia, his Income and Tax Minister Oleksandr Klymenko and Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko, who was reported to be involved in the forced dispersals of Maidan protests late in 2013 and early in 2014, are not now on Interpol`s wanted list.
”Azarov, Klymenko, Zakharchenko are no longer on Interpol`s wanted list,” Lutsenko wrote on Facebook.
Their lawyers submitted information to refute the reports provided by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General`s Office (PGO) to Interpol, Lutsenko said.
”Interpol has suspended their notices and has been `mulling` this over. And it has been mulling for long. Apparently, it could turn out that the PGO has no evidence of their guilt,” he added.
Ihor Lutsenko said that last Friday he used the parliament`s rostrum to call on Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko to ”put an end to trading in criminal cases and a mess in the investigation of the crimes committed by the former regime.”
According to the parliamentarian, the creation of an interim commission of enquiry into freezing the law enforcement agencies` work on Maidan-related cases and ex-president Viktor Yanukovych`s allies has been blocked for two years.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) for Ukraine will conduct an internal investigation due to allegations of complicity with Yanukovych and his associates.
On October 22, Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Chief Military Prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoliy Matios voiced suspicions that some NCB officers in Ukraine could have assisted Yanukovych and his allies to avoid criminal liability.
