Eurovision-2017: SBU to check Russia`s representative, to take ”weighted decision”

The SBU Security Service of Ukraine will take a weighted decision on entry to Ukraine of Yulia Samoilova, Russia`s representative at the upcoming Eurovision-2017 Song Contest, SBU press secretary Olena Hitlyanska wrote on Facebook.

”In response to the numerous media requests about Yulia Samoilova, I want to emphasize: the SBU will study the issue and take a weighted decision regarding her entry into the territory of Ukraine. I emphasize that our position will be based exclusively on the norms of Ukrainian legislation and made in the interests of national security. We will report the results,” Hitlyanska said.

As UNIAN reported, Yulia Samoilova will represent Russia at the upcoming Eurovision-2017 Song Contest in Kyiv with the song ”Flame Is Burning.”

In June 2015, the singer took part in a show titled World of Sport and Kindness in the occupied Crimea.

Kremlin`s spox Dmitriy Peskov has called on the Ukrainian authorities not to politicize the song contest and refuted the assumption that the choice of this year`s entry by Russia`s Perviy TV Channel was in fact a provocation, according to an UNIAN correspondent in Russia
