European Parliament names voting date for travel-visa waivers for Ukraine

The European Parliament (EP) will vote on granting Ukraine a visa-free regime on April 6, according to the European Parliament`s website.

The debate on this issue will be held in the European Parliament on April 5.

Voting on the draft legislative resolution on the inclusion of Ukraine in the list of third countries, whose citizens will no longer have visa requirements, is scheduled for April 6.

Earlier, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian President`s Administration Kostiantyn Yeliseyev said Ukrainians would get the right to travel to EU countries without visas before the middle of summer.

”We expect that in early April the European Parliament will put the final point with regard to the issue of visa liberalization and take an appropriate decision. Following that, `the ball will move to the field` of the member states of the European Union, that is, the Council of the EU, which is to make a decision within a fairly short period of time. I expect that by mid-June Ukraine will get a legal decision on a visa-free regime,” he said.
