European Commission reaffirms full support in introduction of visa-free regime with Ukraine

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin held a meeting with the First Vice-President of the European Commission for the Better Regulation, Inter-Institutional Relations, Rule of Law and Charter of Fundamental Rights Frans Timmermans in Brussels on October 17, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The sides discussed the issues of Ukraine-EU agenda, in particular the perspectives of the visa liberalization for Ukrainian citizens and the completion of ratification of the Association Agreement, the ministry reported.

Klimkin informed his counterpart on Ukraine`s progress in the implementation of reforms, underlying the fulfillment by Ukraine of all the requirements set out in the Visa Liberalization Action Plan. Timmermans, in his turn, reaffirmed the full support of the European Commission in the swift introduction of a visa-free regime with Ukraine.

The situation in the eastern Ukraine and implementation of the Minsk agreements were also discussed during the meeting. Ukraine`s Foreign Minister emphasized the need for the EU consolidated position in further pressure on Russia until Ukraine`s territorial integrity restored.
