Europe ready to give Ukraine more money this year – Tusk

European Council President Donald Tusk has said that Ukraine may get by the end of 2014 part of the financial aid provided by the EU together with the United States, Canada and the International Monetary Fund.
He said this in an interview with Polskie Radio.
“In fact, we deal with the situation that requires an immediate response, and we don’t have to wait until next year, because next year it may be too late. This, first of all, is financial aid, and we are ready [to provide it]. It will not be the amount that Ukraine needs, because these needs are very significant, but it is a serious amount,” Tusk said.
He said that financial assistance was a priority for the EU in its policy towards Ukraine and that the amount of this aid could reach two billion euros.
An important element of support is also humanitarian aid, Tusk said.
