EU to decide on September 10 when to impose enhanced sanctions on Russia

The European Union will assess on Wednesday the observance of a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine and decide on the entry into force of an enhanced package of sanctions against Russia.
Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson for the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said this on Tuesday, Ukrinform’s correspondent reported.
She said that the next COREPER meeting would be held on September 10 and that ambassadors would return to this issue, including an assessment of the implementation of the agreement on a ceasefire and a peace plan.
Kocijancic recalled the position by European Council President Herman Van Rompuy that an enhanced package of sanctions against Russia adopted on September 8 would take effect in the next few days, but it would depend on the situation in eastern f Ukraine, including on the observance of the ceasefire.
