EU signals about Ukraine`s violation of Association Agreement – Ukraine Trade Rep.

There are clear signals from the EU regarding Ukraine`s violation of its obligations under the Association Agreement, Ukraine Trade Representative Nataliya Mykolska wrote on Facebook following the work of the Ukraine-EU Association Committee in the area of trade.
”There were a lot of positive things, but there are negative and clear signals regarding non-compliance/violation by Ukraine (namely Ukraine, not the government) of its obligations under the Association Agreement,” the report says.
She said that one of them was a moratorium on the export of round timber.
On March 28, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine submitted to the Parliament a draft law to lift the ban on export of unprocessed timber, introduced in April 2015.

However, the implementation of the law provisions revealed that all exports of wood stopped in Ukraine. Hundreds of truckloads of timber, with the necessary documents, could not cross the Ukrainian border.
After that, market participants appealed to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko with a request to resolve the problem. At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers allowed to use the existing certificates for registration of timber for export.
