The European Union has announced its readiness to mediate between Russia and Ukraine amid heightened tensions around annexed Crimea and Donbas, a representative of the European Commission said in Brussels on Monday, DW reported citing dpa.
The source did not, however, specify what the mediator`s role might entail, but said it was very important to ensure the situation did not get out hand.
As UNIAN reported earlier, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini had confirmed the unwavering position of the European Union on non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation.
