Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Hughes Mingarelli calls on the Verkhovna Rada to speed up the process of implementation of reforms, according to a UNIAN correspondent.
Speaking at a panel discussion titled: ”Parliaments and comprehensive democratic reform” in Kyiv on Monday, he said that Ukraine was set for the implementation of an ambitious reform program. Most observers believe that more reforms have been carried out in the past two years than in the period of the first 23 years of independence, said Mingarelli.
However, he said that all agreed with the fact that there was still a long way to go.
According to Mingarelli, now it is important to accelerate the implementation of the reform process, turn Ukraine into an open and democratic society, as well as put in place the essential requirements for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
In his opinion, the making Verkhovna Rada should be efficient and transparent in this process. And for this reason, the EU considers the need for an effective and transparent Verkhovna Rada one of the main objectives for Ukraine, Mingarelli added.
