Escalation in Donbas: 2 Ukrainian soldiers killed, 8 wounded due to 47 Russian shellings in last day

Russia`s hybrid military forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in Donbas 47 times in the past 24 hours with two Ukrainian soldiers reported as killed in action (KIA) and eight as wounded in action (WIA), according to the press service of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters.

The worst situation was in the Donetsk sector. The enemy opened fire from tanks, 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers of various systems and heavy machine guns on the defenders of the town of Avdiyivka. Tanks, 82mm mortars, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns were also used to shell the Ukrainian positions near Butivka coal mine. The defenders of the villages of Verkhniotoretske and Luhanske, who came under fire from 82mm mortars and heavy machine guns, were also attacked by infantry fighting vehicles.

In addition, the Ukrainian fortified positions near the villages of Kamianka, Zaitseve and Pisky were shelled with the use of anti-tank grenade launchers and heavy machine guns. Furthermore, the enemy fired grenade launchers on the Ukrainian positions near the villages of Maiorsk and Novhorodske, as well as machine guns and small arms near the village of Troyitske.

In the Mariupol sector, the Russian occupation forces used 82mm mortars and grenade launchers to shell the defenders of the towns of Maryinka and Krasnohorivka. The defenders of the villages of Shyrokyne and Vodiane came under fire from guns of infantry fighting vehicles and grenade launchers of various systems. The enemy fired anti-tank grenade launchers and heavy machine guns on the Ukrainian Marines` positions near the villages of Pavlopil and Talakivka, as well as heavy machine guns on the Ukrainian fortified positions near the village of Novohryhorivka. Moreover, enemy snipers were active near the villages of Lebedynske and Vodiane.

In the Luhansk sector, the invaders used 82mm mortars and automatic grenade launchers near the village of Katerynivka. The defenders of the village of Novozvanivka came under fire from grenade launchers and heavy machine guns, while Ukrainian troops stationed in the village of Stanytsia Luhanska were attacked with the use of automatic grenade launchers.
