ENEMO notes transparency and efficiency of Ukraine elections

The European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO) believes that the parliamentary elections held in Ukraine on October 26 were transparent and democratic, and their conduct was generally in compliance with international standards.
This is stated in a preliminary report by ENEMO, which was presented at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday by ENEMO Mission Head Srdjan Pavlicic, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“The polling on October 26 was conducted in a transparent and efficient manner, generally in compliance with international standards. Certain irregularities did not have a significant influence on the outcome, especially during the campaign period,” Pavlicic said.
He said that the pre-election campaign largely took place in a calm atmosphere, however, he also mentioned instances of physical violence against parliamentary candidates.
Pavlicic noted the efforts of the authorities to conduct the elections and allow voters to cast their votes “in a complex political and security environment.”
