Drug bust in Rotterdam seaport: 150 kg of cocaine revealed on tip of Ukraine border guards

A few weeks ago, the operatives of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine obtained information one of the drug trafficking channels from South America to Western Europe, the border guards` spokesman Oleh Slobodian wrote on Facebook.
”Border guards further managed to establish a number of persons involved in the international criminal group, as well as to obtain reliable information about the date and method of delivering to Europe of a large batch of cocaine (about 160 kg) on CAROLINA STAR ship (flag of Liberia),” Slobodian wrote.
The Ukrainian border guards coordinated further investigation with their European colleagues, having informed Europol on May 26 on the expected date of planned delivery, the drug courier (citizen of Ukraine), the ship involved and even the possible areas where the cache might be set up.
According to Europol officials, the law enforcers at the port of Rotterdam June 1, 2016 during an inspection of CAROLINA STAR vessel found and seized at least 150 kilograms of cocaine.
The investigation is underway to establish all individuals involved in this criminal activity (including citizens of Ukraine), reads the report.
