Deficit of Ukraine`s balance of payments in March estimated at $859 mln

Ukraine saw a deficit of the balance of payments in March 2016, which stood at $859 million, 2.8 times up on a $308 million deficit recorded in the same period last year, according to preliminary estimates by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
The balance of payments in January-March 2016 also turned to a deficit totaling $813 million, which was 58.3% down on a $1.941 billion deficit in the same period last year, the NBU reported on its website.
The current account of the balance of payments saw a deficit of $448 million in March and $942 million in the first quarter (Q1) this year.
There was a $4 million surplus of the capital account in March, and it was estimated at $31 million in January-March 2016, the NBU reported.
The financial account surplus amounted to $415 million in March, but following the results of Q1, 2016 it was a deficit of $98 million.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine posted a surplus of the balance of payments in 2015 at $849 million against a $13.3 billion deficit registered in 2014.
In January 2016, Ukraine saw a surplus of the balance of payments at $120 million, and in February 2016, there was a deficit worth $74 million.
