Defense minister: Ukrainian armed forces should prepare for warfare

The Ukrainian anti-terrorist operation forces should prepare for combat operations due to the build-up of military efforts by Russia and Russia-controlled terrorists.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak said this at a government meeting on Wednesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“We see and know about increasing efforts by terrorist groups, as well as Russia. But we clearly monitor their movement and are aware of their location. And, of course, we expect unexpected actions on their part. I think the main task is to prepare for fighting,” he said.
Poltorak said that the work in this direction was going on and that reserves were being prepared.
He said that considerable work had been done to fortify the first and second lines of defense.
Poltorak generally assessed the situation in the area of the anti-terrorist operation as complex, but stable and controllable, and there is the readiness to respond to changing conditions.
