Crisis in Donbas long moves beyond Ukraine – Nazarbayev

The effects of the crisis in Ukrainian Luhansk and Donetsk regions “have long gone” beyond Ukraine. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said in his speech at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Dushanbe this Friday, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The situation in Ukraine is a serious concern to us all. The effects of the crisis have long gone beyond this country. The situation in eastern Ukraine requires immediate measures and actions. The only long-term solution to the problem is a political dialogue and consensus,” he said.
Nazarbayev also stressed the importance of the ” Minsk meeting” in resolving the situation in eastern Ukraine on August 26, in the format of Customs Union states-Ukraine-EU. It was then, he said, that the first bilateral meeting took place between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Vladimir Putin.
In addition, Nazarbayev expressed his hope for observation of the cease-fire agreements in compliance with the Minsk Protocol of the Contact Group to resolve the situation in Donbas .
“We hope that the good will and constructive attitude of the parties will contribute to the implementation of specific steps within the Minsk Protocol of the Contact Group on September 5, 2014,” he said.
