Crimean Tatars set up religious administration of Crimea Muslims in Kyiv

Kyiv hosted the assembly of delegates of the Crimean Tatar Muslim organizations where the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea was set up on mainland Ukraine, the 15 Minutes news agency reports referring to the ATR.

The Congress was attended by 40 representatives from 14 different Tatar Muslim Organizations of Ukraine (Kherson region, Kyiv, Lviv, Vinnytsia), and representatives of the Mejlis and Kurultai of the Crimean Tatars, RISU.org.ua reported citing 15 Minutes.

A key issue was the establishment of a single Islamic center – Muftiyat. This idea was supported unanimously, with no abstentions, and no votes against the move. The established organization is assumed to promote unification and cooperation of all Crimean Tatar Muslims in mainland Ukraine.

Ayder Rustamov was chosen as Mufti. 38 delegates from Muslim organizations supported his candidacy. Eider Bay represents Muslims of Crimea, the Crimean Tatars who were forced to leave Crimea.

The Ulem Council was also established as the highest religious assembly, a coordinative and controlling body of Muftiyat. The Council includes 11 members: nine people have Muslim religious education. In addition, the Council will include another two people from among the members or Mejlis or veterans of the Crimean Tatar national movement.

Suleiman Hairulayev was elected Chairman of the Board.

It should be noted that the Religious Administration of Muslims of Crimea, located in Simferopol after the annexation of the peninsula, is now under the control of the occupation authorities and the FSB, according to the report. Mufti Emirali Ablayev was expelled from the Mejlis.
