Consul admitted to Ukrainian officers earlier detained in Russia

Five Ukrainian officers whom Russia wrongly accuses of deliberate shelling of its territory have been finally allow to meet a consul, who, contrary to international rules, for a few days has not been allowed to talk to the detainees.
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing on Friday.
“At the insistence of the Ukrainian side the Consul General of Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don was admitted to the detainees yesterday. The situation is under his personal control. Ukraine is doing everything possible to protect its citizens,” Lysenko said.
A reminder that on August 4, a group of soldiers of the 72th Motorized Brigade was forced to retreat to the territory of Russia after they ran out of ammunition. After a long dialogue with the Russian law enforcement officials, most Ukrainian military were sent to Kyiv, but five officers were detained for alleged shelling of the Russia territory.
