Consolidated budget deficit grows to $354 mln in April

The deficit of Ukraine`s consolidated budget in April 2016 amounted to UAH 8.9 billion, or $354 million, which translated into a consolidated budget deficit of UAH 5.1 billion, or $203 million, in the first quarter of 2016, according to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
The growth of the consolidated budget deficit was due to a significant deficit of the national budget, which widened to UAH 11.6 billion, or $461 million, in April 2016 and to UAH 22.2 billion, or $883 million, in January-April of 2016, the NBU said in its macroeconomic and monetary review.
At the same time, local budgets posted a surplus of UAH 2.7 billion, or $107 million, in April, and UAH 17.1 billion, or $608 million, in the first four months of 2016.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine saw a consolidated budget surplus of UAH 3.432 billion ($137 million) in the first quarter of 2016, which was 75% lower than a surplus of UAH 14.236 billion ($566 million) for the same period in the previous year.
