CIA estimates inflation in Ukraine in 2015 at 49%

The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) estimates last year`s inflation in Ukraine at 49% as compared to the previous year, according to a posting on the CIA website.

Ukraine ranks the last in the ranking of the 225 countries that have provided inflation data (no inflation data only for Venezuela).

Based on GDP data, Ukraine was placed 222nd, leaving behind only Gaza, Sierra Leone and Yemen, with last year`s 11% GDP decline as compared to 2014, according to the CIA.

Ukraine ranks 148th based on GDP per capita data, with GDP per capita amounting to $8,000 in 2015, which was lower by $800 from 2014.

The country saw a 15% decline in industrial production in 2015 as compared to the previous year, being placed 199th in the list of 202 countries.
As UaPosition reported earlier, inflation in Ukraine rose to 43.3% in 2015 (December 2015 to December 2014) as compared with 24.9% recorded in 2014, hitting the highest level over the past 20 years.

The National Bank of Ukraine predicts a slowdown in headline inflation in Ukraine to 12% by the end of 2016.

According to the expert consensus forecast compiled by UNIAN, inflation is expected to slow to 19% this year.

The state budget of Ukraine for 2016 envisages an annual inflation rate at 12%, and the hryvnia exchange rate of about UAH 24.1 to the dollar.
