Canada to send CAD 8.1 mln aid to Ukraine`s National Police

The Ukrainian National Police will receive multimillion assistance from Canada, according to Andriy Shevchenko, Ukraine`s Ambassador to Canada.

Canada will provide a CAD 8.1 million aid in support of Ukraine`s National Police, the Ukrainian Ambassador reported.

”Canada will send CAD 6.6 million for the training of the National Police of Ukraine and another CAD 1.5 million for purchasing police gear, according to Canada`s Foreign Minister Stephane Maurice Dion,” Ukraine`s envoy tweeted.

The money will come from Ottawa’s $454-million Peace and Stabilization Operations Program (PSOPs) unveiled by the Liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in August.

After six years of negotiations, Ukraine and Canada in July 2016 have signed a long-awaited Free Trade Agreement, which opens 98% of the Canadian market to Ukrainian products, with a promising annual trade volume of $547 billion.

  1. How about injecting some money into our RCMP members who put their lives on the line every single day for all Canadians and are one of the lowest paid police forces, have dated equipment and haven’t had a raise in many years. It’s disgraceful!
