Cabinet to reform coal industry, solve problems of miners

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk has instructed energy and coal industry minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn to immediately set up a conciliation commission on reforming the coal industry and solving social issues of the miners.
The Head of Government has given the appropriate instructions at the Cabinet’s meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“I instruct the energy and coal industry minister together with the Social Policy Ministry, the Finance Ministry, the National Commission for Energy Regulation, the state-owned energy enterprise Enerhorynok, the state-owned coal enterprise Vuhillia Ukrainy, trade unions and those MPs, who are interested in the issue, to immediately set up a conciliation commission,” he said.
According to the PM, the commission is set up for everyone “to be aware of the Ukraine’s program of coal industry reforming. People must be sure they will have work tomorrow. If some mine is subjected to reforming, the workers of the mine should know what financial compensation they will receive.”
Arseniy Yatseniuk instructed within the framework of the conciliation commission’s activity to present a general reform plan for the coal industry to approve it at a Government’s meeting.
The PM has also informed that he is going to meet the representatives of the coal industry today.
