Cabinet expects to adopt Electricity Market Law in autumn

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine expects that the Electricity Market Law, a project of which is currently being discussed, will be finally adopted in autumn this year, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said during the Energy Forum in Kyiv.
”The Electricity Market Law – we hope that the Verkhovna Rada will adopt it in autumn. This is one of the core laws,” Groysman said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, at the end of February this year, the Cabinet of Ministers under the leadership of former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, in the framework of the reform of Ukraine`s energy sector, began to develop a new model of the electricity market, the basic principles of which were to become high competition and easy access to the power grid. In late March, the Cabinet submitted to the committees of the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the simplification of access to the electricity grid.
In April, in connection with the change of government, a draft law was withdrawn and re-submitted to the Parliament.
