Brazilian man who fought for ”DPR” detained at Boryspil airport

Ukrainian prosecutors and the SBU security Service on Thursday, October 6, detained at Kyiv`s Boryspil airport a citizen of Brazil who participated in hostilities in Donbas on the side of ”DPR” terrorist organization and engaged in recruiting mercenaries, according to the press service of Kyiv prosecutor`s office.

In the period between September 2014 and May 2015, the foreign citizen was a member of the 1st infantry battalion Viking of the 1st Brigade of the ”DPR” at the position of a company commander. He was also an instructor and a scout.

He also took part in hostilities in the area of Verhulyovka, Pervomaiske, Horlivka, Starobesheve, in the battles of Debaltseve and Donetsk airport.

In addition, he served as an instructor at Prizrak battalion in the Alchevsk city area. He was forming from foreigners, mostly Brazilians, a 120 mm mortar battery of the 1st Battalion of the 1st Brigade of the ”DPR”. The man went on several recon missions to the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and spotted artillery fire on the Ukrainian positions.

On October 4, Kyiv Prosecutor`s Office obtained a detention warrant to deliver him to the court. The recruiter was detained at the airport immediately upon his arrival in Ukraine from Brazil.
