Biometric passport to cost 15 euros

The cost of a biometric passport, which Ukrainians will be able to get early next year, will be about 15 euros, and it will be produced for 20 days.
This was stated by Ukrainian State Migration Service spokesman Serhiy Hunko, Hromadske.TV reported.
“From January 1, units will begin their work in every region, and in the near future we will significantly expand their number. A person comes, submits an application, gets photographed and has his or her fingers scanned – and that’s all. The standard procedure for the production of a biometric passport takes 20 working days. According to preliminary information of the manufacturer, the price will be about 15 euros in the hryvnia equivalent. There is also an accelerated procedure – seven working days with a double payment of duty,” Hunko said.
Getting a biometric passport is not mandatory. If a citizen does not want to get it – he or she can continue to use the old-style passport until its term expires.
