Azerbaijan agrees to consider Ukraine`s request for oil supply

Azerbaijan has agreed to consider the request of Ukraine about the supply of oil. The request was made at the 6th Baku meeting of the Azerbaijani-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission held July 1, according to abc.az.
Azerbaijani government source says that the current request for processing of Azerbaijani oil at Ukrainian refineries is more grounded and motivated, abc.az reported.
”Azerbaijan has agreed to consider this request but everything will depend on whether our Ukrainian partners will be able to buy oil on the good conditions. We`ll consider this project depending on conditions. However, it gladdens that Ukraine starts applying a more real approach than a few years ago,” the source said.
Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko stated during his Baku visit July 1 that Ukraine and Azerbaijan had discussed the prospects of setting up supplies of Azerbaijani oil to Ukrainian refineries and its transit through the country`s territory.
”Ukraine is interested in deliveries of Azerbaijani oil to Ukrainian refineries and its transit through the territory of the country to European states. Today, we have created all the necessary technical conditions. In addition, we discussed Azerbaijan`s investment opportunities in oil and gas industry of Ukraine,” he added.
According to Zubko, the sides discussed prospects of setting up supplies of light grades of oil through the southern branch of the Druzhba pipeline to refineries of Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. The parties confirmed their interest in the soonest implementation of the project.
