Austrian Foreign Ministry names condition for lifting sanctions against Russia

To cancel the EU sanctions against Russia, it is necessary that Russian troops withdraw from the territory of Ukraine, not only from the southeast, but also from Crimea.
Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurtz said in an interview with Kommersant.
“We as always hope that the crisis in Ukraine will be resolved peacefully through negotiations. Ceasefire in the south-east of the country is kept … Now we need to do everything to realize the rest of the items in Minsk agreements. In particular, all the Russian military should be removed from the territory of Ukraine – and not only from the southeast of the country, but, from our point of view, also from Crimea,” Kurtz said.
Recall, now the Committee of Permanent Representatives in the EU will consider the report of the EU Foreign Ministers on the situation in Ukraine and implementation of Minsk arrangements for settlement of the conflict in Donbas.
Depending on conclusions the diplomats arrive at, the EU can leave in force or start softening sanctions against Russia.
Any EU country may block a decision to wind up the sanctions.
