Austria approves Firtash`s extradition to U.S.

An Austrian court has ruled that one of Ukraine`s richest men, Dmytro Firtash, should be extradited to the U.S. to face corruption charges, according to the BBC.

The wealthy oligarch has been in Austria since 2014, when the allegations were first brought by U.S. prosecutors, the BBC reported.

Mr. Firtash was an ally of ousted leader Viktor Yanukovych.

He has consistently argued that he has been the victim of a political smear campaign.

His gas and chemicals business thrived before Mr. Yanukovych was overthrown and fled to Russia in February 2014.
