Donetsk Airport remains under the control of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces, ATO press officer Leonid Matiukhin has said.
“We cannot confirm this report. The airport is ours,” he said, while commenting on a report by Reuters that Ukrainian military supposedly left their positions at the Donetsk airport on Monday as a result of heavy fighting with terrorists supported by Russian troops.
As reported, Ukrainian Defense Minister Valeriy Heletei said on August 31 that Russian troops were already in Donetsk.
Terrorists supported by Russian military are making desperate attempts to force Ukrainian troops out of the airport.
