ATO HQ: Militant attacks in Donbas on rise in last day

The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 31 times in the past 24 hours, according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO).
The Russian-backed mercenaries mounted 15 attacks in the Donetsk sector, 14 attacks in the Mariupol sector, and two attacks in the Luhansk sector. More than half of ceasefire violation cases were recorded after dark, the ATO HQ said in an update as of 06:00 Kyiv time on June 1.
Militants deployed in the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk and nearby areas fired small arms, automatic mounted grenade launchers and 82mm mortars on the Ukrainian fortified positions south of the town of Avdiyivka.
They also opened fire from 82mm mortars and launched 28 mines from the village of Spartak towards the village of Opytne.
The enemy used small arms, automatic grenade launchers and snipers against the Ukrainian soldiers near the village of Novhorodske, while grenade launchers of various systems and 82mm mortars were used to shell areas near the village of Luhanske.
The occupiers intensified their attacks in the Mariupol sector. They fired 120mm mortars on the Ukrainian positions near the village of Pavlopil, as well as heavy machine guns, grenade launchers and 82mm mortars near the village of Shyrokyne, which is close to the Ukrainian-controlled strategic port city of Mariupol.
The militants also fired an automatic grenade launcher near the village of Talakivka, as well as a tripod-mounted man-portable antitank gun on the Ukrainian fortified positions near the village of Novotroyitske.
Enemy snipers were active along the entire demarcation line.
