ATO forces not to use heavy artillery during liberation of Donetsk and Luhansk – Shkiriak

The anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces will liberate Donetsk and Luhansk without the use of heavy artillery and air strikes, the Ukrainian interior minister’s adviser, Zorian Shkiriak, has told a Ukrinform correspondent.
“We absolutely do not use these means [artillery and aviation] so as not to endanger any civilian. This is a fundamental, unchanging and clear position of the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the ATO command,” Shkiriak said.
He also noted that pinpoint strikes were locally delivered solely on the bases and positions of militants of the self-declared Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.
“Populated areas will be liberated only within the ground special operations of the Armed Forces and National Guard units,” Shkiriak said.
He said that Russian terrorists and their servants could expect “surprises.”
“Donetsk is currently the main platform of Kremlin-controlled separatists and the liberation of the city is the most important element in achieving the final victory over Russcists,” Shkiriak said.
