National police officers are carrying out investigative actions in the Kharkiv city administration building in connection with bribe-taking by some officials, Anton Gerashchenko, the adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Minister, wrote on Facebook.
”Officials have been detained in their offices after receiving a bribe in the amount of $4,000, namely, heads of the Housing, Transport and Communications Department, and Legal Department of the Kharkiv City Council, as well as a lawyer,” Gerashchenko wrote.
He informed that the suspects extorted and received bribes for dropping a claim concerning the recognition of ownership right to an apartment that was the object of disputes due to inheritance issues.
Gerashchenko said that the Prosecutor General`s Office is studying investigation materials with a view of expanding the list of suspects provided there is a sufficient evidentiary basis.
