Agrarian Ministry to promote Ukrainian fruit and berries on Chinese market

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine wants to increase exports of Ukraine`s farm produce to China, including berries and fruits.
”We actively follow up on the issue regarding fruits and berries. It is about the possibility of entering the Chinese market by our producers,” Ukrainian Deputy Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Vladyslava Rutytska said during a presentation of Ukrainian Silk Road Pre-Summit.
Rutytska stated that last year Ukraine saw a significant increase in exports of agricultural products to China.
”The year 2015 was marked by a significant increase in agricultural exports to China. Export almost doubled and amounted to $1.3 billion,” Rutytska said noting that grain crops made up the lion`s share of farm produce exports.
As UNIAN reported earlier, experts estimate that Ukrainian exports of grain crops in the 2015-2016 marketing year (July 2015-June 2016) will amount to 39.9 million tonnes, particularly, 15.6 million tonnes of wheat, 4.3 million tonnes of barley and 19.5 million tonnes of maize.
According to the State Statistics Service, Ukraine threshed 60.1 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops last year, which was 5.8% down on 2014. The data is presented excluding the temporarily occupied Crimea and the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone.
